Fritz Hirsch

I’ve lived in Montavilla since 2005 and work as a program manager for a local nonprofit organization.  I work primarily on public safety issues for the neighborhood but also devote time to other neighborhood issues and projects.  In my spare time I like to hike and climb, garden and cook.  I also love jazz.

Susan Sansom – Secretary

Susan Sansom

My husband and I have three daughters who vary widely in ages, and have lived in the Montavilla area for over a year. Together, we own a domestic bakery called Sweet Chaos where I bake out of my home during the week, and sell the items at local farmer’s markets (including Montavilla and Tabor) on the weekends. I also teach a weekly baking class for teens at the Montavilla Community Center. My professional background is in logistical support for both the public and private sectors and I am looking forward to contributing those skills to the benefit of the Montavilla Neighborhood Association.

Diana Marshall – Treasurer

Diana Marshall

I grew up in SE Portland, attending schools in David Douglas District, and even working a summer at Flying Pie before attending classes at Mt Hood Community College. My husband and I bought our home Montavilla in 99, and in many ways it felt like coming full circle. 10 yeas and 2 kids later, we have come to love Montavilla and all it has to offer. The schools, community center, entertainment and restaurants are just a few of the things that make us happy to call Montavilla home. Being connected to my community is very important to me, and am excited to bring my professional experience in credit and finance to the MNA board to serve as Treasurer.

I have lived in Montavilla with my husband Peter since 2003 and a couple of years ago, our son Simon joined us.  In addition to living here, I work from my home as a real estate broker and enjoy getting to spend a lot of my time here.  The Montavilla neighborhood has gone through quite a few changes in the short time that we have been here and I am excited to see what’s ahead for us.  I enjoy going for walks around the neighborhood with my family, going to the cafes and local restaurants, shopping at the farmer’s market,  gardening, and hiking.

Lew Scholl – Land Use

Lew Scholl

Lew has lived in the Montavilla Neighborhood since 2004. He has two grown children and one grandchild. His primary career has been in the field of civil engineering having worked for a variety of county and state agencies as well as consulting firms.  While partially retired, he still does consulting work in his engineering specialty, stormwater system design including design of water quality treatment facilities. He has used this expertise in helping to obtain a grant for “green street” type stormwater planters on the streets adjacent to the Milepost 5 Artists Community.  He is working to call attention to the need to address unimproved street problems as well as ways to make pedestrian improvements and beautify 82nd Avenue. An important part of his function is to be aware of development proposals and bring them to the attention of neighborhood residents for comment. Recently he has developed a hobby of creating 3D electronic models of buildings for Google Earth including several in the Montavilla Neighborood that are now posted online for all to see, see the Montavilla Community Center here .

Roger Warren – Parks Committee

Roger Warren

For the first 18 years, Becky and I raised our daughter here in Montavilla and appreciated the ability to walk her to school and nearby bus connections.  For the next 16 years, we have enjoyed the same home as a place for nearby gardening, school volunteering, church activities, Mt Tabor park concert committees, and now neighborhood association meetings.  We considered moving several times but figured any new neighborhood would be less convenient so we thought it smarter to keep our home improvements up-to-date.  Volunteering in Montavilla neighborhood parks includes all of our “common spaces” such as school playgrounds, street parades, community gardens, park concerts and the like.  I would enjoy having you join our parks committee!
